i planned on going to sillys this past evening, but as i was halfway there, i remembered that they’re closed on monday nights! so needless to say i was upset, because i was intent on eating pollitos et fritas and a chocolate milkshake! but i had to adapt, so A & i treked to norms east end and gorged on some onion rings (which are good when you first have them, but after the second ring, you’re sick of the taste).  i got my staple- grilled chicken sandwich on flatbread with mayo, bacon, american, and tomato lettuce. it was alright, but i’m so sick of their food.  A got chicken tacos which were over-dressed. i suppose this means we’re taking a norms hiatus- which is okay, we only go to visit jasp and frosted flake.

for lunch we went to big sky in the mkt house, and i got a rather delicious grilled cheese with swiss, avacado, and bacon… huh, guess i ate a lot of bacon today.  it was perfectly panini-pressed and crispy and gooey.  i have reservations for street & co on friday the 11th at 8pm with isaac, and i’m cooking a good amount this week.  i perused the aisles at whole foods tonight and bought some nice flank steak, chicken, endives, peaches, almond soy milk, granola, avacados, strawberries, and goat cheese (also cukes, carrots, lettuce, etc.)

i’m making fajitas tomorrow, and i’ll post the recipes in the evening. look forward to a summer fruit cobbler/or maybe cake!

living in portland, maine is a foodie’s dream.  one is surrounded by restaurants, bakeries, eateries, and cafes galore.  growing up in this environment, as well as in cambridge, has made me quite the critic.  most sixteen year olds prefer their kraft mac and cheese, but i enjoy my tempeh and fiddleheads thank you very much.

in addition to my love of food- i love to cook.  i’ve been in the kitchen since an early age- 4 or 5, and i can’t go a day without spending sometime in the kitchen.  currently i’m torn regarding whether or not i should attend culinary school, but hopefully i’ll figure out my aspirations within the next year or too.

i’ll be reviewing portland restaurants (as well as the rather common cambridge/boston eatery as well) and posting recipes.

just to be clear, i really like my wines aged and my veggies raw.  please don’t confuse me with a vegetarian. because i would die without a healthy helping of duck & proscuitto.  baking is boring, but rather rewarding.  cooking ith alcohol and butter is the only way.  and in my kitchen there are three possible answers to any question i may pose: yes chef, no chef, i don’t know chef.  best analogy about me in the kitchen? she’s a tornado who leaves behind gourmet presents.
